Brown states don’t allow teachers’ performance to be given out to the public or parents (via EdWeek)

Mayoral candidates Greuel and Garcetti may support publishing teachers’ performance ratings — and indeed the LA Times did just that a few years ago.  But, according to this new Education Week chart, California is one of 22 states that currently exempt individual teachers’ ratings from open records laws. Via Twitter, EdWeek reporter Stephen Sawchuk says it’s California code Section 6524 that prohibits this.
