Mayors Cory Booker of Newark, Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, and LA’s Antonio Villaraigosa are all scheduled to appear at the education summit hosted by United Way of Greater Los Angeles on Wednedsay, February 27 at the LA Convention Center.

Four of Los Angeles’ mayoral candidates — Eric Garcetti, Wendy Greuel, Kevin James, and Jan Perry — have all confirmed their attendance as well.

The timing of the education summit is auspicious, coming less than a week before the March 5 LAUSD Board primary race. It will be interesting to see what the mayoral candidates have to say, and if they have anything new to share. Other notable LA-area education figures who will participate in the summit include LAUSD Board President Monica Garcia, who is running for reelection, and UTLA President Warren Fletcher.
