Just In: Charters Top “Similar School” Rankings*

Screen shot 2013-06-12 at 11.09.37 AMNot too long ago, California released its statewide 2012 annual school rankings, listing the top-performing schools in the state, based on the Academic Performance Index (API), which is calculated from standardized test results.

LAUSD has yet to post its own version, however LA School Report has created a list of the top-ranked LAUSD high schools based on the state’s ‘similar school rank.’

Similar school rank compares a school’s performance to a group of schools with similar demographics and size. A score of 10 indicates a school that performs much higher than other similar schools.

As you can see below, charter schools come on strong – making up 19 of the 23 highest ranking high schools.
