Ron Chandler, LA Unified’s Chief Information Officer and the official responsible for the implementation of MiSiS, the new student-tracking system, has has resigned after four years with the district.

The move represents the most decisive change in Ramon Cortines’s first two weeks as superintendent. It comes as the district continues efforts to clean up a monumental technological mess that has left students in the wrong classes and with no classes at all.

Cortines said at the outset of his return as superintendent this month that solving problems with the MiSiS system would be his first priority.

Earlier this week, the district terminated the contract of an outside consultant, Bria Jones, who had been hired to play a major role in the MiSiS project.
