The LAUSD School Board captured media attention from around the world on Tuesday when it unanimously awarded Apple a $30 million contract to purchase iPads for students and teachers in 47 schools.

The Wall St. JournalMashable, and Newser all got in on the action. The British tabloid The Daily Mail found time for the story with the headline: “EVERY school child in Los Angeles to get an iPad after city strikes $30m deal with Apple.” (Of course, it’s going to take a lot more than $30 million to give EVERY kid an iPad… but never mind!)

Tech blogs like All Things D were on it, as were Apple blogs like Cult of Mac and Mac Rumors.  Even Apple itself put out a press release trumpeting the news.
