LA School Report readers, we’re taking Monday, January 21 off from our regular reporting activities for a Martin Luther King Jr. day of service.

If you also have the day off, here are some ways you can volunteer and give back to your community:

  • City Year is hosting a service day to beautify high-needs Belmont High School. Click here for details.
  • United Way invites volunteers to come beautify and organize Washington Irving Middle School, a Los Angeles school where more than 80 percent of students are considered low-income. Click here for details.
  • KPCC also put together a great list that includes service opportunities such as cleaning the beach, feeding the homeless, and beautifying a Los Angeles elementary school.
