With school starting in just a few weeks, the Office Depot Foundation is donating 8,000 sackpacks, each containing essential school supplies, to kids served by LA-area nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies. The giveaway starts at 10 a.m. Friday during a special Back-to-School Celebration at the Office Depot store at 401 E. 2ndStreet.
As he did last year, Nick Cannon, host of “America’s Got Talent,” will participate.
During the past six years, more than 42,000 Los Angeles-area kids have benefitted from Office Depot initiatives. The non-profit organizations, schools and agencies scheduled to receive sackpacks on Friday include:
Ascencia, Building Futures Inc., Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, Central City Neighborhood Partners, Children’s Law Center of California, Community Outreach and Opportunity Programs, El Salvador Foundation, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Unified School District, Para Los Ninos, Unification of Disabled Latin Americans, Wilson Elementary School and Women Like Us Hollywood.
