Some of the names and faces might be not be familiar, but five of the 10 candidates running for president of the teachers union, UTLA, have agreed to participate in a candidate forum next Thursday, Jan. 30th at Thomas Starr King Middle School. Click here for announcement.

Wil Page, the school’s chapter chair, said in an email that Kevin Mottus, Gregg Solkovits, Alex Caputo-Pearl, Bill Gafney and David Garcia have confirmed their participation. Warren Fletcher, the incumbent, is among those who have not yet committed, he said.

The event is scheduled to begin at 4 o’clock, giving candidates for other offices the chance to speak with UTLA members before the second hour Q&A with the candidates running for president.
