A teacher-led conference tomorrow focusing on the “what, how and why” of the new Common Core curriculum is shaping up to be popular with LAUSD teachers. Run by Teach Plus, a non-profit that focuses on teacher training, “Launch LA Common Core” was originally planned for 800 teachers who wanted to learn more about the new approach hitting LA Unified classrooms this year.
But according to Teach Plus Executive Director John Lee, the demand was so high the conference doubled, still leaving two thousand teachers without a spot. “The appetite is large for more resources. Teachers want to be able to learn from other teachers,” he said.
Hosted at California State University Dominguez Hills, the one day conference is free. Plans for another may be in the works – LA School Report will keep you posted.
