It’s not every day that an upstart online news site like ours gets the attention of a big mainstream media outlet. But it’s happened today — twice, in fact:

The editorial page of the Los Angeles Times gives LA School Report credit for prompting a reassessment of its endorsement of East Valley School Board candidate Monica Ratliff.

On the opposite side of the page appears an op-ed piece, A dangerous game for UTLA, penned by LA School Report publisher Jamie Alter Lynton.

Thanks to the Times editorial and op-ed pages, and welcome to any new readers. An independent news site focused on LA education issues, LA School Report has been publishing since last summer. It includes original reporting, a morning roundup of education news, and a free daily email Monday-Friday.
