A majority of LA School Report readers responding to our latest poll voted that Michelle King was the right choice to be LA Unified’s next superintendent.

King, a longtime district insider, was announced earlier this month as the next superintendent after a months-long search that included looking at some outside candidates.

Fifty-three percent of those responding gave a thumbs up to the choice, while 20 percent answered, “I wish it had been an outsider to bring in fresh ideas.”

A total of 26 percent, however, expressed a lot of skepticism about what the future holds for the district, answering, “No matter who was chosen, the district has too many problems for any new superintendent to solve.”
