ProvidingVoiceBdD1According to the law, the LA Unified School Board cannot appoint a ‘voting member’ to serve temporarily on the board. That’s according to the legal team at LA Unified which is set to make a presentation today, in response to a request from the school board.

According to the document – which outlines the options for temporarily filling the vacant seat left by the sudden death of Marguerite LaMotte late last year  – an interim would also be barred from attending closed sessions.

Prepared by David Holmquist, LAUSD’s general counsel, the document was prepared in response to a request by school board member Steve Zimmer.  For a livestream of the meeting click here.
